Class of 2021 ASCD Emerging Leaders Islah Tauheed, Vanèe Smith-Matsalia, and Sophie Teitelbaum presented two sessions at the NCTE 2023 Annual Convention: "How Teaching and Embodying Collective Action Furthers Connection" and "The Power and Purpose of Affinity Groups for BIPOC Educators." The event was held November 16th-19th at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Marc Cohen EL08 shares “Today, I announce to my colleagues and community that after an amazing 30-year career and 18 years serving Germantown, Maryland as their principal, I am retiring from my position on November 30.” Marc is by no means fully retiring, taking on a new role as Instruction and Leadership Coach for The Center for Model Schools.
Shane Hotchkiss EL09 is named the 2024 Pennsylvania Superintendent of the Year. He has led the Bermudian Springs School District, serving more than 1,800 students in grades K-12 since 2011. In reflecting on his career, Shane shared, "My experience as a 2010 ASCD Emerging Leader provided me with the courage to take risks as a leader. Through the ASCD program, I was able to connect with visionary leaders from across the country. This laid the groundwork for who I am as a leader today."
